First Body Collaborations

Collaboration with Diego Borges' First Body Programme began when I produced a First Body workshop with Diego at the Center for Performance Research in NYC in 2019. Since then, I have been collaborating further with First Body: as an international invited artist for an artistic encounter in Brazil in 2021, during which physical theatre artists and dancers from Brazil, Colombia, Lithuania, the US, and Switzerland, gathered for a creative exchange of training and laboratory practices, as well as for devised performances.

Self-Portrait

In 2025, a piece called Self-Portrait was developed in Montorgiali, Italy with artists hailing from Brazil, Portugal, Colombia, and France, and was performed as part of the 2025 Teatro nel Bicchiere Festival. Self-Portrait was a site-specific performance that involved structured ensemble improvisation and individual devised scenes. The performance explored material generated from the body experiencing and reacting to concrete sensations in the natural environment, and using concrete felt sensation as a creation methodology. The scenes were diverse and nonlinear, and spoke of dreams and desires, frustrations, reclamation, remembering, and were inspired by the artists' personal biographies.

The Site

In January 2026, I collaborated with First Body and Alquimia Cuerpo Voz and other international artists in Medellin, Colombia. The devised ensemble piece The Site was created and presented at Teatro Sensorial La Rueda Flotante. The Site was inspired by the work of playwright Edward Bond, and dealt with questions surrounding the dehumanization and violence of technology in the 21st century, and how we choose to work against this.
